Drapery & motorized curtains · Brooklyn
Drapery & motorized curtains in Brooklyn.
Brownstone parlor windows, bay windows, warehouse lofts and new waterfront glass. Drapery that respects the architecture and handles the light.

From brownstones to waterfront glass
Brooklyn’s housing tells its history. Brownstones and rowhouses in Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene and Bed-Stuy have tall parlor-floor windows, often with original moldings, interior shutters and deep window boxes. Many have bay windows facing the street. Converted warehouses in Williamsburg, Greenpoint and DUMBO have big industrial windows. Newer towers along the waterfront have walls of glass facing the Manhattan skyline.
Why drapery matters here
Tall, historic windows. Parlor windows can run nine feet or more. Full-length drapery hung high makes the most of the ceiling height and frames the original trim instead of hiding it.
Street-level privacy. Garden and parlor floors sit close to the sidewalk. Sheers or Roman shades give privacy without losing light.
Afternoon sun on the waterfront. West-facing glass toward Manhattan gets strong late-day sun. Motorized solar sheers and blackout layers control glare and heat.
Drafty old windows. Interlined drapery adds a layer of warmth in winter in older homes.
When motorized makes sense
Lofts with windows high on the wall, wide glass in new buildings, and bay windows with several panels are easier to manage on a motorized track, especially when you want everything to open and close at once.
Brownstone-friendly installs
We mount hardware to protect original plaster and woodwork, and plan around stoops, narrow stairs and parking.

Brooklyn
questions
Can drapery work with original interior shutters?
Yes. Panels can be hung outside the shutters so both still work, or we can suggest shades that sit within the frame.
How do you handle bay windows?
With bendable tracks or separate panels per window, motorized if you want them to move together.
Will installation damage old plaster?
We choose anchors and mounting points to protect plaster and original trim.
